Many of the foods we buy today have been heavily processed beyond their natural state, so that our bodies have to do less to digest them. It stands to reason that the quicker you digest food, the sooner you are hungry again and the more you are likely to eat. To avoid these binges or food cravings that can only lead to a yo-yoing blood-sugar level, we should all be eating foods that break down at a slow and steady rate - these are known as low GI foods (foods that appear at the bottom of the Glycemic Index.)
It has been proven that keeping glucose levels in the bloodstream at a low level is the key to permanent weight loss. I was initially sceptical about a diet that guaranteed weight loss, whilst ensuring that I'd never go hungry again. However the GI diet is supported by the medical profession, has been the most successful diet I have undertaken and the most enjoyable!

As a lover of food, I didn't want to be restricted to lettuce leaves for the rest of my life, and I'm pleased to say that the GI diet offers quite the opposite. I have combined my love of food with this new way of eating to develop a range of cakes that are actually beneficial. So, even if you are on a diet, you can enjoy a slice of a For Heaven's Cakes cake.
